Port Mor Centre
Port Mor Centre, Isle of Islay – situated just outside the village of Port Charlotte on the Isle of Islay and opened in May 2007. It is a community project which aims to provide many and varied facilities to both visitors and residents alike. The building is carbon neutral and uses a 6KW wind turbine to generate electricity with a ground source heating system to provide heating and solar panels to provide hot water. Insulation of the building is to a very high standard.
Campsite
The campsite at Port Mòr is available from the beginning of March till the end of November* and welcomes tents, caravans and camper vans. We also allow awnings but the space provided for them is limited.
The Centre itself has a wide range of facilities for campers such as toilets (including disabled toilets/showers), showers, laundry, a café and free internet access.
Fourteen electrical hook-ups are available at £4 per night.
There are two fresh water stand pipes situated next to our hard standing pitches. The charge for using the campsite is £9.00 per person per night or £5.00 for children up to 15 years old. Children up to 5 yearrs old are free.
Payment is by cash or cheque only.
The campsite is also dog friendly at no extra charge.
Facilities
The main hall features a wide-screen LCD television with access to Sky and a DVD player .
The main hall can be booked for functions and events such as weddings** ceilidhs, etc. – prices are available on request. There is also a small bar area which can be licensed for use on such occasions.
The Port Mòr Centre also features excellent business facilities with a meeting room for up to 12 attendees and free wireless Internet access. You can book the meeting room by contacting the email address below or giving us a call.
The Port Mòr Centre has Free WIFI. As a wireless network is in place, you can access the Internet from anywhere inside the Port Mòr Centre and, weather permitting, even from outside.
