Port Askaig Hotel, Isle of Islay – a picturesque, family run Highland Inn on the shores of the Sound of Islay. Overlooking the pier at which daily car ferries berth on arrival from the Scottish mainland. Due to its proximity to the ferry, the hotel offers easy access to Jura, Colonsay and the mainland. The hotel has been in family ownership for over 50 years.
Situated in arguably the best coastal location in Islay this old drove inn offers a mix of 11 double/twin/family rooms + 1 single room – all with en-suite facilities. The apartment is NOT available for self catering from 1 April until November 30th annually, the two completely refurbished rooms are now en suite and are available for full summer season on a B&B basis, both have stunning views over the small harbour and Sound of Islay to the Isle of Jura. Guests resident in the apartment have shared use of a small tv lounge.
At Port Askaig Hotel you can find quality malts and a menu featuring local Islay meat and seafood from the daily catch. The Starboard Restaurant offers Bistro style dining with a full meal service in both bars. Hot snacks available outwith main meal times. Port Bar is the oldest licensed premises on Islay and features an extensive selection of Islay Malts and a display of old and rare bottles. The Snug Bar is ideal for a pre-dinner drink or a cosy evening with friends. Our seasonal menu offers everything from light snacks to lobster lunches! Snacks are available all day. Our ‘Port’ Bar is the oldest continually licensed premises on the island (dating from the 16th Century). We carry an extensive selection of Islay Malts in addition to a display of old and rare bottles, which may interest the visitor. We also sell a good blended whisky at only £1 per dram. PORT BAR – BEST IN THE WEST.
Our ‘Starboard’ Restaurant is are open all year to non residents with group bookings for mixed or purely seafood buffets. Malt Whisky parties are also catered for. 30 covers maximum in the Bistro but food can also be served in either bar or our harbour side beer garden.

Rooms
All room rates include a full Scottish selection which is served in our Starboard Bistro between 7.30am and 9.30am daily. Breakfast may be available earlier by prior arrangement. A
Packed Breakfast is available for all guests departing for the 7am ferry – please order this in advance latest by 8pm on the evening prior to departure.
Our hotel of 11 rooms comprises 5 superior with sea views, 1 Deluxe King size/twin room, 1 standard double room, 1 standard double/twin rooms, 2 standard twin rooms and 1 standard single room.
- Each room is prepared for your comfort including hairdryer, towels, hospitality tray, extra blankets, shampoo and soap.
- All bedrooms are situated on the first floor with easy access from the car park at the rear of the building.
- Special rates are available for guests staying 3 or more nights all year round and for weekend breaks during off-season months.
In our adjacent annex we can offer 2 first floor en suite rooms with sea views. Both rooms can be twin or double – one has a shower and one has a shower and bath. Both rooms have shared use of a small TV lounge.
